Avenda Systems University Customer Selected to Present Network Security Case Study at Campus Technology 2011 Conference

SANTA CLARA, CA — (Marketwire) — 07/20/11 — Avenda Systems, a leader in identity-based network access security and intelligence, today announced that Jack Wilson and Chris Ford of Brescia University will discuss the advantages of a unified policy solution to address security for campus and housing network access, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiatives, and compliance requirements.

Brescia-s session, which was selected by an independent board of advisors, will be held on July 28 at 9:45 am EDT at Campus Technology-s 18th annual Technology Conference in Boston. The session will outline the path used to deploy differentiated role-based access security, protection from malicious malware attacks, the management and use of peer-to-peer applications, and tips to load balance wireless and wired bandwidth usage.

“Policies based on a user-s identity, device type, and location can be effectively used to differentiate access to resources and also prioritize bandwidth usage,” said Chris Ford, network administrator, Brescia University. “For example, students logging onto the wireless network with a game console in student housing will receive only Internet access. If logging in from the library with a laptop, they receive access to email, the Internet and secure campus servers.”

Avenda-s eTIPS user and device-based policy platform provides centralized control for campus-wide user and device authentication and authorization decisions, NAC endpoint health checks and remediation, and Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) compliance requirements.

“The team at Brescia is providing valuable insight into what many in the education sector must deal with today: Android devices, Apple iPads, and overburdened wireless networks,” commented Trent Fierro, director of marketing, Avenda Systems. “They-ve realized that NAC alone does not provide the visibility, intelligence, and control needed to keep up with the diversity of today-s campus networks.”

Avenda-s user and device-based access control solution delivers industry proven student, employee, guest and endpoint access security intelligence for multi-vendor wired, wireless and VPN networks. Recognition for innovation excellence includes being positioned as a Visionary in Gartner-s 2010 Magic Quadrant for Network Access Control, named a Gartner Cool Vendor in 2010, and numerous product and customer service awards.
