Autonomous Tracking Camera Startup TRACE Finalizes Deal with Top Skateboard and High-performance Auto Racing Video Content Platforms; Hellaclips & SpeedSociety

Visual Intelligence startup – creator of live-streaming content platform, TRACE Live Network – announced today signed agreements with leading skate content aggregation platform, and street and track racing video platform .

Referred to as the –skate video superhighway– Hellaclips was founded in 2011 by skate legends Colin McKay and Josh Kalis. Since then, the site has grown to be the defacto content channel for the global skate community with approximately 700,000 visitors a month and a growth rate of 20% year on year.

SpeedSociety.com aggregates the very best street and track racing videos from around the world and has experienced significant traction since being founded in 2011. It has been labeled one of the world–s fastest growing websites with 100% month on month increases in traffic and currently, 3 million monthly visitors viewing 20.5 million pages.

The Hellaclips and SpeedSociety agreements will not only see a sharing of existing content on the TRACE Live Network, but the creation of exclusive content – from various high profile and upcoming figures in the skate and auto racing communities – which will be shot and live-streamed from TRACEr1 enabled autonomous tracking devices.

The TRACEr1 represents an entirely new product category. Using proprietary video-as-a-sensor technology, the TRACEr1 visually intelligent camera is able to “click-in” and “click-out” of several accessory vehicles designed to suit every user environment, controlling each autonomously. With required positioning and streaming preferences able to be selected within the TRACE app, all enabled vehicles will lock onto a signature pattern worn by the user (i.e. a logo, code, or color sample) and carry out autonomous video capture, all while live-streaming the action to TRACE.com.

Vehicles in development include; the FLYr1 quadcopter, designed for aerial video capture, DRIVEr ATV for ground-based capture and the FOLLOWr Gimbal Tripod.

TRACE CEO Cameron Chell said of the announcement “With TRACE Live Network we–re focused on partnering with the very best there is when it comes to action sports content. Both SpeedSociety and Hellaclips have an incredible presence in their markets and great teams that we–re very excited to work with. We feel there–s a clear synthesis with what their audience are doing and what we–re able to deliver with our autonomous filming devices.”

Hellaclips Founder and Pro Skateboarder Josh Kalis offered, “We see the TRACE tracking devices offering an incredible opportunity for people to be in the moment and record amazing live content which they can share instantly. There–s no question we–re excited to be a part of that.”

TRACE Live Network will be officially launched in January at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and the TRACEr1 is expected to see retail availability in Q4 2015.
