FireEye Achieves Certification Within UK Cyber Essentials Scheme

MILPITAS, CA — (Marketwired) — 01/19/15 — FireEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: FEYE), the leader in stopping today–s advanced cyber attacks, today announced that it has been awarded the UK Government–s new Cyber Essentials Scheme accreditation. Part of the UK Government–s National Cyber Security Strategy, the Cyber Essentials Scheme is an independent analysis and recommendation of the necessary security controls for mitigating risks from the latest cyber threats. The accreditation applies to all of FireEye, which includes the security operations of customer deployed FireEye technologies, expertise, and intelligence that encompass FireEye.

“The existence of this accreditation by the UK Government shows just how much the cyber threat landscape for all companies has drastically changed within the last year,” said Greg Day, EMEA CTO at FireEye. “By receiving this accreditation for FireEye, UK businesses can be further assured that we are aligning the controls of critical systems and business operations with the growing appetite for independent security validation.”

“We are very pleased that FireEye, one of the foremost cybersecurity companies, has attained the Cyber Essentials Scheme certification for its global operations through IASME,” said David Booth, MD of IASME Consortium Ltd, one of the organizations managing the assessment process. “Although FireEye–s information security goes well beyond the Cyber Essentials Scheme controls, the company is leading by example in this important area.”

“We are very happy to receive this accreditation for FireEye and encourage other companies to do so,” said Craig Rosen, Chief Information Security Officer at FireEye. “The process was straightforward and we are excited to add this to a growing list of credentials that provide a level of transparency and assurance to our customers.”

The Cyber Essentials Scheme is a UK Government initiative to provide a common cybersecurity baseline standard for adoption by all businesses. The standard covers five primary areas of cyber security, providing core requirements for firewalls and Internet gateways, security configuration, user access controls, malware and patch management.

Systems that fall within its scope include devices such as desktop PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones, as well as email, web and application servers and other Internet-connected systems. By successfully completing a Cyber Essentials Scheme assessment, organisations lower their risk of serious data and financial loss, and those companies that display the Cyber Essentials badge demonstrate to customers that they have taken steps to be fundamentally cyber safe.

The IASME Consortium Limited started with a government funded project to create a realistic and affordable cyber security standard. IASME now maintains a suit of assessment and certifications for organisations to demonstrate their level of information assurance. IASME was recently invited to represent small companies on the panel which developed the UK Government–s Cyber Essentials Scheme and then became one of the first Accreditation Bodies to roll out the associated assessment process. Based in Malvern, the founders have many years experience of cyber security accreditation and standards

has invented a purpose-built, virtual machine-based security platform that provides real-time threat protection to enterprises and governments worldwide against the next generation of cyber attacks. These highly sophisticated cyber attacks easily circumvent traditional signature-based defenses, such as next-generation firewalls, IPS, anti-virus, and gateways. The provides real-time, dynamic threat protection without the use of signatures to protect an organization across the primary threat vectors and across the different stages of an attack life cycle. The core of the FireEye platform is a virtual execution engine, complemented by dynamic threat intelligence, to identify and block cyber attacks in real time. FireEye has over 2,700 customers across 67 countries, including over 157 of the Fortune 500.
