KVH and Siaras Joint Presentation
Siaras CTO Sig Luft and KVH director of software development Caleb Crane will deliver a presentation that analyzes real-world use cases being implemented by KVH. In these use cases, KVH employs Siaras cloudScape software in order to offer its customers a “cloud of clouds” service, i.e., an OpenStack-based cloud service with a variety of OpenStack and non-OpenStack public and hosted private “underclouds.” The non-OpenStack clouds that can be managed through this multi-layer approach include VMware and Amazon Web Services (AWS), with IBM SoftLayer and Microsoft Azure being added.

Sig Luft will also be presenting a detailed engineering description of how OpenStack, with appropriate extensions, can be used to manage multiple underlying clouds (“underclouds”) and networks (“undernetworks”) rather than simply managing cloud data center hardware. This technique affords enterprises a more seamless and extensible cloud footprint while still enabling them to take advantage of diverse, non-OpenStack cloud services.
