Vorstack Re-Launches as BrightPoint Security With New Threat Intelligence Platform

SAN MATEO, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/04/15 — Vorstack, a leading provider for automation, curation and to fight cyber threats, today announced it is re-launching as BrightPoint Security — a new company with new leadership redefining threat intelligence sharing. With the company–s new product line also being launched today, called Sentinel, BrightPoint Security introduces the industry–s first Threat Intelligence Platform with granular policies for controlled threat intelligence sharing across vendor supply chains, affiliates and subsidiaries.

The new company will be unveiled next week at the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit, being held in National Harbor, Md., in its Booth #1104.

According to the recent Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) , there is keen interest (94 percent of respondents(1)) in the value of sharing threat intelligence, but the lack of automation, configurable policy controls and standards have inhibited widespread acceptance. Now with BrightPoint Security, organizations have the context and relevance added to security threats from a broader spectrum of outside organizations and partner ecosystems at their fingertips to speed identification, remediation and prevention of attacks.

“Intelligence and threat intel sharing is a critical success factor for our cyber security program, and BrightPoint facilitates a secure and simple method to accomplish this sharing,” said Reid Stephan, Director of IT Security at St. Luke–s Health System in Idaho. “BrightPoint was very agile in responding to our needs and requests. The granularity in regards to whom we can share information with and what we can share is foundational to our cyber-threat intelligence strategy.”

BrightPoint–s Sentinel platform is the industry–s first to deliver threat intelligence sharing with granular policy controls to address the needs of security professionals overwhelmed with the deluge of threat data. With its enhanced Trusted Circles, it extends controlled sharing to partner ecosystems, including business partners, supply chain and portfolio partners, in addition to ISACs and similar threat intelligence resources. This speeds identification of threats relevant to an organization and delivers actionable results and real benefits from sharing threat intelligence with business peers.

“BrightPoint essentially provides the benefit of two FTEs,” added Stephan. “Instead of having to invest resources in 24×7 monitoring of our SIEM events/incidents, we can replay that data against BrightPoint and distill literally millions of events down to a few items of interest that warrant follow-up.”

Sentinel–s enhancements include richer threat context for an organization–s Cyber Security Intelligence Operations Centers, including threat actor data to identify who is related to attack patterns, geo location of attacks, search and indicator tagging, and analytics and scoring of incidents for weighting and prioritization.

Last year, the NH-ISAC standardized on the company–s solution for their Threat Intelligence Platform (TIP) for their members, and the company made a similar offer to all financial services organizations.

A recent study from ESG highlights many of the challenges that organizations face today, including that threat intelligence program spending is expected to increase in the next 12 to 18 months (72 percent of respondents of ESG–s (1)). This is a clear indicator that organizations are prioritizing Threat Intelligence as a critical component to an overall security program.

“BrightPoint is launching today to address the number one critical problem we hear from customers, which is the need to reduce the threat data noise so security professionals can address the attacks targeting their organizations,” said Anne Bonaparte, President and CEO of BrightPoint Security. “The new value Sentinel–s launch brings in pinpointing the critical threats through enhanced context and relevance is significant for security teams. The feature of granular policy control to support a spectrum of business partners– shared information, ranging from complete non-attribution through full disclosure, is critical for organizations to speed visibility into what is impacting their IT infrastructure, based on other companies that are part of their BrightPoint Trusted Circles.”

Formerly Vorstack, BrightPoint Security provides a Threat Intelligence Platform that automates the process of collecting, analyzing, correlating and securely sharing structured and unstructured machine-readable information on current and emerging cyber threats. The BrightPoint Sentinel Platform dramatically increases operational efficiency by reducing the time it takes enterprises to identify and remediate security threats. BrightPoint enables secure and anonymous sharing and ensures control and protection of threat data. BrightPoint reduces discovery time, remediation time, and overall risk to cyber-threats.
