PeerApp to Showcase Optimized Live Streaming and Upstream Caching Solutions at CableLabs Summer Conference

NEWTON, MA — (Marketwired) — 07/31/15 — , the leader in helping network operators accelerate and optimize content delivery, will be showcasing the company–s virtualized content delivery platform supporting use cases around live streaming and upstream caching at the August 2-5 in Keystone, Colorado. PeerApp solutions reduce network cost across access, aggregation, and IP core, while enhancing application performance to meet operators– Internet-based video services requirements. Attendees to the event will be able to see:

This architecture demonstration shows how delivery of over-the-top (OTT) live streaming and operator live IP video services can be managed and optimized across operator IP network, access and home WiFi.

The solution demonstration utilizes the IntelĀ® Puma 6 DOCSIS gateway platform and the latest WiFi 4×4 Wave-2 radios from Qualcomm Atheros, supporting concurrent viewing of HD and UltraHD (4K) live streams across multiple screens in the home. It also leverages PeerApp–s live-event streaming capabilities which are in production with operators globally.

This collaborative demo showcases practical steps towards extending local content delivery from the network edge into the home, keeping operators at the forefront of service evolution. The approach also brings benefits around re-use of customer-premise equipment (CPE) investments to enable next-generation IP Video.

Operators are facing increasing demand for upstream last-mile capacity generated by social content sharing, home surveillance, Internet of Things (IoT) applications, and other upstream applications. PerrApp enables cable operators to free upstream capacity, by caching upstream content traffic. This solution — which is based on patented PeerApp technology — helps delay investments in DOCSIS 3.0 upstream capacity, without degrading application performance. It is currently in several commercial trials globally.

In addition, PeerApp partner Sandvine will be showing a cloud-based policy solution that MSOs can offer their SMB and enterprise customers to view, control and protect their traffic, and which leverages PeerApp–s local content delivery capabilities.
