SANTA CLARA, CA — (Marketwired) — 08/25/15 — , the software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) leader, welcomes Hans Robertson, co-founder of Meraki Networks, now Cisco Meraki, to its advisory board. Robertson brings deep networking and remote office infrastructure expertise to help customers transition from legacy hardware router-based networks to application-defined software fabrics with CloudGenix.

[] ” appoints @Meraki co-founder Hans Robertson to advisory board. “

As co-founder and COO of Meraki Networks, Robertson ran products and sales, leading the company to $120 million in annual revenues before its acquisition by Cisco in 2013. At Meraki he was instrumental in bringing cloud-managed, enterprise networking products to market. Robertson also has considerable expertise in cloud-controlled Wi-Fi, routing and security, as well as wireless systems. Robertson is also a VMware veteran and was product manager for EMC–s Invista storage virtualization system.

“CloudGenix has a new and truly unique, application-defined approach that I believe is revolutionizing WAN infrastructure,” says Hans Robertson, co-founder of Meraki Networks. “I was attracted to CloudGenix because they are replacing several decades of routing protocol complexity with a path-breaking approach to building networks using application policy definitions for security, performance and compliance. This radically simplifies building a hybrid WAN, enables superior application and SaaS performance and delivers granular branch network security. I–m excited to join the company–s advisory board.”

CloudGenix–s SD-WAN improves application performance, simplifies operations, and dramatically lowers cost compared with legacy router-based networks. These are just a few of the reasons industry leaders like Robertson are supporting CloudGenix. In addition, SD-WAN is among a few technologies at the peak of Gartner–s 2015 Hype Cycle for Networking and Communications.(i) According to the report, “SD-WAN solutions offer a significantly different way to deploy branch office WANs. Compared to current solutions, SD-WANs are more cost-effective to deploy, as well as less complicated and time consuming to manage.”

“CloudGenix is thrilled to welcome Hans Robertson to our advisory board,” says Kumar Ramachandran, CEO and co-founder of CloudGenix. “His vision, guidance and experience are helping us advance our goal of delivering networks without networking. Organizations are migrating from hardware-centric to software- and cloud-based business models. A big part of that migration involves evolving from legacy, router based models, to an application-defined architecture that aligns with business priorities. Robertson–s addition to our advisory board represents an invaluable asset to help us deliver on that promise.”

CloudGenix () is the software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) leader, revolutionizing networking by transforming legacy WANs into a radically simplified, secure, application-defined fabric and virtualizing heterogeneous underlying transports into a unified hybrid WAN. Enabling application-specific, service-level agreements (SLAs), CloudGenix controls network application performance based upon application-performance SLAs and business priority. CloudGenix ION radically simplifies how WANs are designed and managed, enabling customers to build “Networks without Networking” and achieve more than twice the performance at less than half the cost — leading to a much faster time-to-value once deployed — and extending datacenter-class security to the network edge. Founded in 2013 by a team that has previously delivered industry-leading products in networking, SDN, cloud, security and web-scale applications, CloudGenix serves world-class financial services, legal, retail and technology organizations. The company is backed by Bain Capital Ventures, Charles River Ventures and the Mayfield Fund and has headquarters in Santa Clara, California.
