Suunto Announces Vyper Air Nitrox Wrist-Mounted Dive Computer

Respected Finnish manufacturer of dive computers, sports watches, compasses and precision instruments launches intuitive diving tool for beginners and experts alike. Vantaa, Finland “ December 18, 2015 “ Suunto, a Finland-based manufacturer of sports watches, dive computers, compasses and precision instruments, adds to its impressive roster of finely-tuned products with the release of the Vyper Air nitrox wrist-mounted dive computer, designed for diving experts and beginners alike.

The intuitively useful tool boasts an easy-to-read interface coupled with advanced features such as three dive modes including Air, Nitrox and Gauge, as well as the ability to switch between two gas mixes. Already making a splash on both the professional and beginner diving equipment circuits, Suunto–s Vyper Air makes operation and obtaining critical diving information simple.

Utilising an intuitive menu-based user interface, the Vyper Air has the ability to back step, making navigation easy, as well as four operation buttons for Mode, Select and Up/Down. Two bar graphs indicate current tank pressure and ascent rate, and users can configure the backlighting to illuminate for five, 10, 20, 30 or 60 seconds, making the dive computer ideal for any lighting condition.

Further, the Vyper Air uses Suunto–s RGBM (Reduced Gradient Bubble Model) algorithm developed by Dr. Bruce R. Wienke and based on both diving and laboratory tests, as well as data from DAN. The algorithm takes into account both dissolved and free gases in the user–s tissues and blood, resulting in a greater margin of safety for divers. Additional premium features of the Suunto Vyper Air include a Deep Stop application incorporated in the algorithm, allowing the computer to calculate continuous decompression for outstanding ascent time; the ability to set the RGBM algorithm to behave more œliberally;” a dive simulator which allows divers to run through actual dive profiles “ in either Air or Nitrox mode “ without being in the water; audio and visual alarms to alert divers to all dangerous situations; an R2450 user-rechargeable battery good for approximately 100 dives or two years; a dive log to analyse past dives and bookmark specific points of a dive; a 3D compass with 45-degree tilt technology and more.

While useful for both novices and experts, the Vyper Air is particularly beneficial for beginner divers, according to Suunto representatives, as it represents a highly useful tool during the learning process.
