Software Defined Perimeter Being Showcased at Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit 2016 Next Week

SEATTLE, WA — (Marketwired) — 06/09/16 — The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), the world–s leading organization dedicated to defining and raising awareness of best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment, and ., a leader in next-generation access control, today announced that three CSA leaders will present the merits of Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) at the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit 2016, being held next week at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.

SDP delivers trusted access control in today–s world where nothing on the network can be trusted. Director of CSA Alan Boehme, who also serves as CTO of The Coca-Cola Company; Co-Chair of CSA–s SDP Working Group Bob Flores, who also serves as Executive Partner at Cognitio Corp and is the Former CTO of the Central Intelligence Agency; and Co-Chair of CSA–s SDP Working Group Junaid Islam, who also serves as Vidder CTO, will present on the enterprise benefits of the SDP protocol.

In addition, in Booth Number 1211, Vidder will exhibit PrecisionAccess, its enterprise-ready SDP solution that returns trust to corporate networks in three simple steps:

1. Isolating each application, so it–s invisible to everyone;
2. Verifying user authenticity and authorization, in addition to devices and software integrity;
3. Connecting the authorized user and trusted device to only the protected application.

Attendees are invited to meet Vidder–s security team and see a PrecisionAccess demo.

According to Gartner, “Organizations continue to struggle to properly segment and provide adequate access control over their sensitive networks, hosts and applications within their environments beyond the perimeter firewall or segmentation performed at network boundaries… Through the end of 2017, at least 10% of enterprise organizations (up from less than 1% today) will leverage software-defined perimeter (SDP) technology to isolate sensitive environments… Strategic planners must take advantage of growing market opportunities created by SDP and satiating demand in their customer base to enhance security. They must also reduce network security spend and avoid costly network security maintenance, monitoring and additional energy costs associated with physical appliances and other network security infrastructure.” (1)

Gartner Summit presentations discussing SDP next week include:

Alan Boehme, Director of the Cloud Security Alliance and CTO of The Coca-Cola Company, will present “Re-Think Security” on June 14 at 11:30 am EDT. This session looks at why enterprises must have a zero-trust mindset when devising security and networking strategies, and how organizations can use SDP as part of the solution to reduce cyber risk and improve agility.

Bob Flores, Co-Chair of the Cloud Security Alliance–s Software-Defined Perimeter Working Group, Executive Partner at Cognitio Corp and Former CTO of the Central Intelligence Agency; and Junaid Islam, Co-Chair of the Cloud Security Alliance–s Software-Defined Perimeter Working Group and Vidder CTO, will lead a roundtable of CIOs, CISOs and leading security experts to discuss how enterprises can benefit from a threat-based approach combined with SDP–s isolate, verify, connect architecture. The roundtable, titled “How to Stop Catastrophic Cyber Failure in Your Organization,” will take place on June 15 at 3:15 pm EDT.

“SDP ensures zero-visibility of the app and zero-access until device and user trust are verified,” said Jim Reavis, CEO of CSA. “SDP as a protocol represents the next generation of access control, ready to combat the attacks of today across the IT architectures of both yesterday and tomorrow. It provides the foundation for highly secure access control for applications in the traditional data center and in the cloud, and ensures trusted interaction with remote workers, outsourced partners, and supply chain partners.”

The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) is the world–s leading organization dedicated to defining and raising awareness of best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment. CSA harnesses the subject matter expertise of industry practitioners, associations, governments, and its corporate and individual members to offer cloud security-specific research, education, certification, events and products. CSA–s activities, knowledge and extensive network benefit the entire community impacted by cloud — from providers and customers, to governments, entrepreneurs and the assurance industry — and provide a forum through which diverse parties can work together to create and maintain a trusted cloud ecosystem.

Vidder reinvents connectivity by bringing to market PrecisionAccess, the industry–s next generation access control that isolates applications — ensuring zero-visibility and zero-access from all networked users and devices until trust is verified. The resultant trusted connectivity defeats server exploitation, credential theft, and man-in-the-middle attacks, enabling business agility through secure cloud initiatives and business ecosystem collaboration, while reducing risk for traditional IT. PrecisionAccess is the most widely deployed solution based on the Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) protocol promoted by the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA). The company–s headquarters are in Campbell, Calif. For more information, visit .
