Lucid VR Showcases VR Cal Campus Tour and Cal Rec Sports Videos at UC Berkeley Caltopia Festival

SANTA CLARA, CA — (Marketwired) — 08/17/16 — , the developer of the LucidCam 3D virtual reality, pocket-sized camera, will introduce new immersive VR videos for UC Berkeley and Cal Rec Sports at the upcoming Caltopia college lifestyle festival Sunday and Monday at the University campus. The new VR videos include a unique 3D Cal campus tour and four immersive sports videos that give viewers the experience that they are participating with various sports teams.

When viewed with a VR headset or Cardboard viewer, the Cal VR campus tour gives interested students anywhere in the world the “Cal” experience — showing the campus in 180-degree, 3D VR and delivering the impression that they are really on the campus with a sense of distance and perspective very different from what is experienced with traditional video. Lucid VR will also be showing new Cal Rec Sports VR videos for its ropes course, lacrosse practice, sailing and team building.

Lucid Studios, a production arm of Lucid VR, created the new videos to give viewers the immersive experience with a first-person narrative. “We want to provide all Cal students — and interested people anywhere — the chance to experience the beautiful Cal campus as if they were on a real tour, with a real tour guide and seeing the campus as it is, walking on the paths and through the buildings,” said Han Jin, CEO and co-founder, Lucid VR.
