Visit Star on Stand 310 at RBTE 2017 to see how once again Star has “changed” the POS hardware choice for retailers of all sizes…

High Wycombe, UK, 3 May 2017: At RBTE 2017 (8 – 9 May 2017, Olympia, London), international POS printer manufacturer Star Micronics will be exhibiting its ever expanding range of POS and mPOS printing solutions that respond to today’s rapidly evolving retail environment. Star will be joined by 17 retail software partners covering POS / Loyalty / Queue Management / multi-lane Lottery as well as competitive Payment Solutions providers for all operating systems including Windows 10 on Stand 310.

Visitors to the stand will experience a wide variety of solutions including Star’s new and unique TSP143IIIU printer that is the ONLY receipt printer solution today to provide direct iPad receipt printing removing the insecurity of wireless connection in difficult environments. Managing a large estate of multiple tablets and paired Bluetooth devices means that it can be operationally difficult to maintain the right connection between the right peripherals and devices. The TSP143IIIU?changes all this. As well as working with a traditional POS terminal, this printer can connect directly to an iPad or iPhone using the Apple supplied lightning cable for reliable USB communication. As a result, the usual Bluetooth or WiFi / wired LAN set-up issues around pairing, network infrastructure, connectivity etc. are eliminated. No other stand-alone POS printer can achieve this.

Further enhancing its range of Cloud solutions, Star’s new CloudPRNT technology provides Cloud connectivity at every level for countertop and mobile printing solutions, with remote printing direct from a web server to any Star printer. The Star TSP654II, TSP743II and TSP847II label, ticket and receipt printers as well as the SP700 kitchen printer can easily be upgraded and transformed into a remote Cloud printer by simply using the cost-effective HI X Connect interface. Alternatively, the TSP654II HI X printer with built-in interface is cloud-ready.

Fitted to the compatible printer models, the HI X Connect interface boasts a variety of connectivity options and Development Tools to provide a versatile future-proof solution. WiFi, USB and Ethernet connections can all be used concurrently with the printer printing on a first come, first served basis.

Star CloudPRNT enables remote printing directly and securely from a web server to Star printers anywhere in the world without the need for a local POS terminal or PC, avoiding complicated network configurations. This solution is ideal for Cloud-based POS applications such as shelf-edge labelling, Click & Collect, restaurant aggregation and courier deliveries.

The versatility of HI X Connect is further enhanced by Star’s free-of-charge digital receipting platform and AllReceipts App. This service provides the ability to log into the printer interface to automatically upload all receipts and coupon images to Star’s Cloud Services for customers to download to their mobile device by simply scanning the automatically generated QR code.

The beauty of this service is that unlike e-receipts where the customer has to provide personal email details, QR code receipts are designed to be anonymous, secure and non-intrusive; an attractive feature given that customers are concerned about their personal information and trust retailers more who are less invasive.

For mobile applications, Star has introduced yet another unique mobile printer for POS and logistics applications. The easy-to-use SM-L300 with OLED display uniquely features Bluetooth 4 (BLE) connectivity as well as Classic Bluetooth allowing it to connect with multiple Apple iOS devices. This 80mm / 3 inch printer is just as useful printing in-store / in-field receipts / visit reports as well as variable width traditional & liner-free re-stick labels from 40 to 80mm wide. It also features reflective (black mark), transmissive and paper end sensors.

Designed to work from a person’s belt with an exceptional 41 hour battery life or using the in-vehicle mount option as well as the 5V counter top cradle charger, this versatile printer ticks all the mobility boxes and can even be charged using a micro USB cable. Star’s WebPRNT Browser, simplifying direct printing from the web along with Star’s PassPRNT print data relaying application, provides software support to match this sophisticated mobile printer for easy integration.

For retailers looking for a combined Bluetooth printer and cash drawer solution Star’s mPOP is low cost, lightweight and space-saving at just 10cm high and 30cm wide. The latest upgrades to this solution include 2D barcode scanner support for the industry-standard DS9209 as well as second cash drawer support with an additional DK output for any RJ11 drawer. SDK support is also available for Star’s new compact USB SCD222 (2 x 20 line) customer display.

With the POPPack option that includes a high quality black or white tablet stand (alternative colours are available if required) and metal plate, users can successfully create a stylish mPOS station. The POPPack design provides a flexible option with the extra security required within a retail environment, whilst retaining the mobile element. This provides the ability to securely store or transport the mPOS station at the end of trading.

As Simon Martin, Director & General Manager, Star Micronics EMEA, states, “Star is continually developing and enhancing the functionality of its range of POS and mPOS solutions to meet the changing demands of retail. With a large number of mPOS partners on the Star stand at RBTE 2017, visitors will be able to experience a variety of complete solutions for retailers of all sizes.”

All mPOS products mentioned are available at the Apple Store.
