Genesis Technical Systems joins the Broadband Forum

Genesis Technical Systems has become the newest member of the leading global organisation for broadband standards as it looks to shape the global telecom ecosystem

Coventry, UK and Calgary, Canada – 26 June 2017 – Genesis Technical Systems is pleased to announce it is the newest member of the Broadband Forum, the leading industry body that is focused on engineering smarter and faster broadband networks. Joining the Forum will allow Genesis to leverage its shared goals with industry leaders from the membership as it works to provide innovative broadband technology solutions through legacy copper infrastructure.

Stephen Cooke, Genesis Founder and CTO, said: “Joining the Forum is a significant milestone in the history of the company – we have long been championing innovative technologies, including DSL Rings and mBond, as a means to energise existing infrastructure, bring connectivity to rural, suburban and urban customers at a fraction of the cost of alternative solutions, and widen the competitive landscape.”

The Broadband Forum is a non-profit industry organization, which works to define best practices for global networks, enable new revenue-generating service and content delivery, establish technology migration strategies and engineer critical device, service & development management tools, in the home and business IP networking infrastructure.

“This is a great time for Genesis to join the Broadband Forum,” commented Robin Mersh, CEO of the Broadband Forum. “We are witnessing a period of growth and change in the broadband industry, which highlights the Forum’s key role in the industry and the need for cross-sector co-operation to achieve, implement, and maintain standards. The broadband community is constantly evolving and the Forum recognises an array of technologies must be utilised to achieve our vision of providing ultra-fast broadband around the world. Genesis Technical Systems joining the membership is another example of the value that can be added to pre-existing infrastructures and we look forward to their contribution.”

Cooke continued: “The Broadband Forum is a valuable resource to all of its members and the industry more broadly. We look forward to contributing to the Forum’s already great work in updating standards and creating new ones, while working with organisations across the membership as we continue to grow as a company.”

There are many advantages of joining the Forum, including access to its latest initiatives and its work on its 20/20 vision, which focuses on specific opportunities for ultra-fast technologies. Membership also provides many other opportunities. For instance, Genesis will progress standardising its DSL Rings technology for telcos with standards that have the potential to shape the telecoms industry.
