Home automation: an overview of the most innovative and enterprising companies worldwide

It’s a matter of fact: after many decades of technological upgrades (and a few resounding failures over the past ones), home automation has become the ultimate innovation able to improve an individual’s quality of life and, at the same time, increase his interactive capabilities with his everyday life’s objects. Nowadays, anyone can fully automate his house at a reasonable price. And this could be considered the most important achievement for a technology that, up to just a few years ago, would have been considered nothing more than a rich kid whim.

Now things are completely turned upside down: home automation is a privilege that everyone can afford, getting to improve his domestic life, making it more simple and manageable. Consequently, many experiences directly related to it have the chance to be exploited more than ever: from leisure time to the moments dedicated to our beloved ones.

This is mainly due to the tireless research conducted by a bunch of companies all over the world. Within those enterprises, many of the next gen pieces of technology have been developed, and then used to enhance their home automation system’s capabilities. Names like BTicino, Vimar, Vitrum, Gewiss and Comelit should tell something to all the experts – or just plain enthusiasts – of technological novelties. Thanks to them, devices like gateway or remote control systems have reached such a high degree of development to enable customers to manage their home devices in a completely fulfilling way.

Among those companies, Overkiz has been able to carve out for itself a sort of pioneering role in the field of home automation’s research and innovation. The France-based (but operating worldwide) company has collected a considerable number of achievements throughout the last years. Nowadays, it is able to automate buildings and apartments of all shapes and sizes, connecting up to 30 devices and handling all of them in real time. Lights, air conditioning systems, TVs, computers and every kind of household appliances could be managed by a single equipment. And this is probably the utmost expression of the word “freedom” that electronic engineering can provide us nowadays.
