Riverbed to Join Teradici Network Solutions Partner Program as Charter Member

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwire) — 08/30/11 — Today at VMworld® 2011, (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, announced its plan to partner with Teradici, the developer of the innovative PC-over-IP® (PCoIP®) protocol that enables a true PC experience for desktop virtualization. Riverbed® would be the first company to join the newly launched Teradici Network Solutions Partner Program. Through its intended partnership, customers will be able to better address IT infrastructure performance, including virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) for VMware View environments.

Teradici has also become an Elite level member of the Riverbed Technology Alliances (RTA) Partner Program. The RTA program is made up of a select group of technology companies who share a common vision of accelerating data and application performance, and delivering significant savings as customers increasingly use wide area networks (WANs) to enable globally distributed workforces. As partners, the two companies will work closely to provide an unparalleled performance experience for desktop users.

VMware View with PCoIP® is designed to provide customers with the ability to deliver an uncompromised remote desktop experience over existing standard local area networks (LANs) and WANs. In instances where the WAN has too little bandwidth or too much latency to smoothly deliver virtual services, the Riverbed WAN optimization solutions can provide significant performance improvements for those VMware View users. Extensive testing has shown that Riverbed WAN optimization improves performance by reducing bandwidth utilization for desktop virtualization, often by 50% to 90%. In addition, response time for administrative activities such as login to a virtual environment can be improved up to 5X.

“We launched our Network Solutions Partner Program so that we can work closely with best of breed solution providers on addressing the key challenges faced by companies as they become increasingly distributed,” said Trent Punnett, vice president of marketing, product management and systems engineering, Teradici. “By launching a partner program, we are enforcing our commitment to delivering market leading, high performance virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) for VMware View environments.”

“We aim to partner with companies that align with our vision to solve the industry-s most complex application, network and storage challenges,” said Venugopal Pai, vice president of global alliances at Riverbed. “A partnership between the two companies will be a perfect match to further enhance a global organization-s ability to develop a high-performance IT infrastructure. We look forward to building a long-term, strategic relationship with Teradici that benefit global enterprises.”

“Organizations are supporting an increasing number of end users with rich multimedia, including streaming videos, high-resolution graphics, high-definition audio and support for multiple monitors over the WAN. Through our partnerships with Teradici and Riverbed, we help customers streamline desktop and application management while reducing desktop TCO, improving security and enhancing the experience, flexibility and productivity for end users located all around the world,” said Vittorio Viarengo, vice president, End-User Computing, VMware. “This partnership will be focused on delivering the best experience across all distances for the ultimate in employee productivity.”
