Nickel, cobalt and lithium are metals of the future

.

The price of nickel has virtually exploded. A lot of nickel came from Russia.

Many raw materials that came from Russia in peacetime – the country is now excluded from the markets – have become significantly more expensive. Nickel and cobalt are raw materials needed for the desired decarbonization. Nickel is used in solar panels, in wind turbines and also in the batteries of electric vehicles. Nickel was first discovered as an element in 1751 by a Swedish chemist. In the USA and Switzerland, the metal was used for coin production. Today, nickel-based alloys provide very good corrosion protection. In the case of cobalt, the most important area of application is in rechargeable batteries. Cobalt is also used in magnets, carbides, diamond tools and superalloys.

Nickel and cobalt are therefore essential raw materials for modern technologies. Thus, cobalt is present in batteries of cell phones and many other devices. By the way, cobalt is a component of vitamin B12 and stimulates the growth of red blood cells, but too much is unhealthy. Most cobalt even today comes from the politically not so stable Congo, cobalt also came from Russia. More than half of the cobalt processed worldwide comes from the Katanga region in southern Congo. Since the mining regions are not very particular about social, health or ecological standards, it is always a plus if the cobalt comes from another country.

This is where the Canada Nickel Company – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Tve3LSuYA8 – comes in. Its flagship Crawford project contains nickel and cobalt and it is located in Ontario, Canada and is 100 percent owned by the company. Another significant raw material for increasing electromobility is the highly sought-after lithium.

Alpha Lithium – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4FylM829Vg -, for example, owns this in the famous lithium triangle in Argentina in its Tolillar-Salar project. Particularly high-quality lithium is found there.
