Synapse SNAP Now Available on ARM7

HUNTSVILLE, AL — (Marketwire) — 09/28/11 — Synapse Wireless®, Inc. announced the availability of its 2.4GHz surface mount transceiver module based on a powerful, 32-bit TDMI ARM7 microprocessor at the Embedded Systems Conference, Boston 2011 (Booth #609). With 96K RAM of memory, not only can applications be uploaded to the RF module wirelessly, even the core SNAP® network operating system can be uploaded over-the-air. This latest RF Module from Synapse, the SM700PC1, is available exclusively from Future Electronics.

Very little board space is needed for this 25mm x 36mm module that can reach distances of over 1.5 miles and deliver an output of up to +20dBm. Preloaded with SNAP, the industry-s most reliable wireless mesh network operating system, developers can download Synapse-s Portal® at no cost for fast and reliable application development.

SNAP lets you take full advantage of the 128KB flash and 96KB SRAM memory. With its on-board Python interpreter, larger, more sophisticated applications can operate local to its environment. This means faster response time to sensor input, faster routing of data and messages, and with 12-bit ADCs, more accurate data.

Synapse-s SM700 series RF modules feature:

One chip does it all — application and the network run on the same chip

No need to learn complicated software stacks

Application code is written in easy to learn, open source Python scripts

Peer-to-peer, auto-forming, instant on, Internet-to-machine and M2M networks

Both application code and SNAP network software is upgradeable over the air

32 bit ARM 7 gives the performance needed for demanding applications

8 channel / 12-bit analog to digital converter for high precision sensors

Battery-powered mesh capability

Built-in AES-128 encryption

Highest throughput available for IEEE 802.15.4

“Sometimes applications need more processing power at a local point in the mesh network,” said Wade Patterson, CEO and founder of Synapse Wireless. “With the addition of the Freescale MC13224V transceiver platform, SNAP now not only runs on cost-effective 8-bit microcontrollers, but can scale up to the power of a 32-bit ARM 7 processor — and all on the same network.”

Markets served include energy and lighting, industrial control, healthcare, asset management, and many more. The SNAP network operating system supports Freescale, Panasonic, Atmel, Silicon Labs and California Eastern Laboratories; with many more semi-conductor companies in the process of SNAP ports.

The SM700PC1 RF Module is available now and starts at a MSRP of $25.00 for quantity one (volume discount available) from Future Electronics. For more information, visit
