Frost & Sullivan Award Honours DERMALOG for Its Customer Value Enhancement

LONDON — (Marketwire) — 09/30/11 — The business consultancy Frost & Sullivan honoured DERMALOG with its Customer Value Enhancement Award, because it has stayed ahead of the competition by developing a wide range of high quality biometric products with undivided focus on customer needs. The product range of the German biometric expert includes AFIS installations for government agencies and administrations as well as cutting edge border checkpoint systems, biometrically secured documents and fingerprint payment systems.

“Innovative, high-performance and technologically advanced products and solutions made in Germany, delivery of end-to-end solutions, and a commitment to optimizing customer satisfaction underpin DERMALOG-s receipt of this award,” says Frost & Sullivan senior research analyst Neelima Sagar. “DERMALOG is the only German provider of large-scale AFIS and automated palm and fingerprint identification systems (APFIS) solutions for governmental and national organization applications worldwide.”

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Enhancement is presented to the company that has demonstrated excellence in implementing strategies that proactively create value for its customers with a focus on improving the return on the investment that customers make in its services or products. This award recognises the company-s inordinate focus on enhancing the value that its customers receive, beyond simply good customer service, leading to improved customer retention and ultimately customer base expansion.

Günther Mull, CEO of DERMALOG about winning the Frost & Sullivan Award: “We feel honoured and proud that Frost & Sullivan recognised our innovative biometric products made in Germany with a high focus on customer needs. Dermalog has successfully produced the best quality innovations to meet all customer requirements, whether they are used for governmental or commercial projects with excellent price/performance ratio”.

Dermalog has also received special recognition in the BioPII test which is the largest European field test to date comparing biometric verification systems. The extensive study was carried out by Germany-s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and the German Federal Bureau of Investigations (BKA). DERMALOG-s biometric fingerprint system emerged the clear winner prevailing over competing biometric fingerprints, face and iris systems. DERMALOG has won twice the Germany “The Land of Ideas” award; in 2010 for the “Live Finger Detection” system for automated distinction between living tissue and dead tissue which leads to fingerprint live detection technology.

In addition, DERMALOG was also the Live Detection competition winner in the first international test on liveness detection (LivDet09) and winner of the Ernst and Young “TOP 100 INNOVATOR” award for the 100 most innovative companies in Germany for 2011. The company has achieved a new milestone in performance with a “World Record” in fingerprint identification speed and accuracy with its “New Generation AFIS” — matching the right fingerprint out of 129 million within one (1) second using a single 12 core processor — recently tested by the renowned SGS Institut Fresenius from Switzerland.

“DERMALOG-s modular design and open standard-based architecture helps end users to achieve a much higher degree of independence, while also enabling multiple uses of the system for different tasks,” states Sagar. “High levels of accuracy, speed and reliability, combined with high throughput, allows end users to reduce investments in computational power and all related recurrent costs for best quality products Made in Germany. And the fast and flexible installation of the AFIS software, hardware-independent core biometric solution that offers high levels of accuracy and speed in terms of identity matching capabilities, is a unique selling point that also makes it easy to use for customers.”

A modular structure also allows DERMALOG-s solutions and systems to be customized according to customer requirements. A customer-oriented approach in its business practices and strategies have resulted in high levels of client satisfaction. The company has successfully deployed its solutions over a broad array of geographic domains and user conditions. Reliability, enhanced security, and a cost-benefit ratio have helped DERMALOG cater to disparate end-user groups ranging from police departments, intelligence services, federal police, and judicial and military authorities to national registration, immigration, border control, health and voting institutions and FingerPayment systems in 68 large-scale biometric government projects across 42 countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

DERMALOG has also increasingly expanded the application of its technology to commercial fields of application. Correspondingly, the company is the technical partner of a project for the REWE Group for rapid, secure payment via fingerprints. With its system FingerLogin, DERMALOG additionally closes a security gap with regard to the registration of users to company-wide IT networks: The fingerprint replaces the password and thus provides a faster, easier and especially safer log-in. The solution consists of a keyboard with an integrated fingerprint scanner and accurate biometric matching software to authenticate the user. Beyond that DERMALOG cooperates with industrial bank ATMs manufacturers with integrated fingerprint scanners (“finger replaces PIN”) for cash withdrawals.

“DERMALOG has underlined its credentials as a leader in the AFIS biometrics market by successfully installing the world-s first combined AFIS for criminal investigation and civil application in Brazil and of course because of its leadership in Liveness Detection,” concludes Sagar.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
