Data Storage Corporation Achieves SAS 70 Type II Compliance Ensuring Integrity of Its Data Protection Services

GARDEN CITY, NY — (Marketwire) — 10/17/11 — Data Storage Corporation (DSC), a provider of data protection and business continuity solutions, today announced that as part of its continued efforts to enhance its data centers it has completed its SAS 70 (Statement of Auditing Standards No. 70: Service Organizations) Type II audit, most recently for its Westbury, New York data center. Completing this audit for its multiple data centers verifies that DSC has the proper internal controls and processes in place to ensure the integrity of its data protection and recovery services to its clients.

A-lign CPAs, LLC, a risk advisory firm specializing in regulatory or customer compliance services, conducted the audit. As an independent third party, A-lign CPAs conducted onsite and offsite tests to assure that the control activities at its data centers meet regulatory control requirements. SAS 70 Type II is an auditing statement issue by the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

“Protecting our clients- data and systems while ensuring their business continuity is our first priority,” said Matthew Grosso, executive vice president at DSC. “Going through the SAS 70 Type II audit process for our data centers is an important aspect to make sure we are taking all the proper steps to safeguard our clients- mission-critical data and provide our clients with the peace of mind that we are able to deliver consistent and reliable services.”

Scott Price, managing director at A-lign CPAs explained by completing its SAS 70 Type II audit of DSC, their clients don-t need to perform independent testing of DSC-s controls themselves. “We tested Data Storage Corp.-s physical and environmental data controls, who at Data Storage Corp. has access to the client data, their intrusion detection measures, their backup monitoring processes, and, their capacity to support their existing and new clients- data protection requirements. Independent verification of internal controls is very important and this third party audit opinion demonstrates Data Storage Corp.-s commitment to making sure its clients- data and systems are protected.”

DSC provides professional services focused on data protection, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions that help organizations protect their data, minimize downtime, ensure regulatory compliance and recover and restore data quickly. Through its multiple SAS 70 Type II data centers and by leveraging leading technologies such as virtualization, cloud computing and cloud storage, DSC delivers and supports a broad range of premium solutions for both Windows and IBM power systems environments that help its clients save time and money, gain more control of and better access to data and enable the highest level of security for that data.
