Avaya Government Solutions Selected for U.S. General Services Administration Connections II Telecommunications Contract

FAIRFAX, VA — (Marketwire) — 12/02/11 — Avaya

Avaya Government Solutions among vendors selected for $5 billion government contract

Connections II will provide federal agencies with a one-stop shop for telecommunications and networking infrastructure solutions and services

Avaya Government Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avaya, today announced that it has been awarded prime contractor status on the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Connections II telecommunications contract. The contract, to be shared among 21 companies, is valued at up to $5 billion over 9 years and 3 months. It has a three-year and three-month base and six one-year options.

Avaya Government Solutions is one of only two awardees with a telecommunications original equipment manufacturing (OEM) pedigree.

The Connections II contract is a follow-on to the original GSA Connections vehicle that expires in January 2012. Connections II can be used anywhere in the world by all federal agencies and entities as well as by authorized state, local and tribal governments. It provides for both firm fixed price and time and materials type awards. Task orders can be administered either directly by the individual government agency-s contracting shop or with the aid of GSA.

Connections II will provide the federal government with a one-stop shop for telecommunications and networking infrastructure solutions and services. This includes technologies for building and campus facility communications planning, operations, administration and management, customer service, and technical support. Agencies can request work from any combination of these solutions sets or request an entirely new telecommunications solution. Because of its comprehensive scope, Connections II can also be used to deliver integration planning, transition planning, legacy system support, infrastructure installation, system implementation and more.

“We-re delighted to have been awarded this important telecommunications procurement vehicle by the GSA. We believe that there-s a significant added value that we can bring to federal agency users of Connections II since we are both an experienced integrator and a manufacturer of innovative communications solutions.”
–Chris Formant, senior vice president and president, Avaya Government Solutions

“Avaya Government Solutions is one of only a handful of companies that can provide end-to-end solutions and services that include both unified communications and networking. Our technologies work hand-in-hand to enable faster collaboration, smarter decisions, and better business and government. We are proud to have been selected by the GSA to participate in the Connections II contract and look forward to meeting the technology needs of federal agencies.”
–Tim Gentry, senior vice president of civilian sales, Avaya Government Solutions
