Data acquisition system USB-AD16f: High-speed Measurement and Control

Technical products basically can be characterized by the following properties: performance, quality and price.
If one feature is more pronounced, it is often at the expense of the others. A product, however, fulfilling all criteria to an extremely high degree, promises to be a great success.

An illustrative example that everyone can relate to: Who is not dreaming about a car with a powerful engine, best driving qualities and extras, but inexpensive and economic at the same time?

In the same manner – to stay with this example – you could describe the latest measurement system USB-AD16f of BMC Messsysteme GmbH (bmcm): a powerful “runabout”, provided with many features precisely scanning signals of different frequencies.
What makes this measuring device unique, however, is the combination of high-performance, sophisticated quality, and an unbeatable low price.

When looking for a suitable product name the manufacturer of innovative measurement technology and PC technology “made in Germany” set great value on pointing out its basic features:

• USB
Measuring via USB interface means mobile and uncomplicated acquisition with fast data transmission. Here, “Plug & Play” and “hot-pluggable” are examples for features, demonstrating the advantages of USB measuring systems.

• AD
With its 16 analog inputs, 2 analog outputs, 4 digital inputs and outputs each and one counter the USB-AD16f really deserves the attribute “multi-functional” and “multi-purpose”.
For optimum signal adjustment the measuring range (+/-1V, +/-2V, +/-5V, +/-10V) of the analog inputs can be set for each channel separately via software.
In addition the galvanic isolation of the analog channels and the counter protects against interferences and high potentials.

• 16
Signals are recorded in 16bit resolution, so that even tiniest peaks of a signal will not remain undetected.

• f
At bmcm data acquisition systems for high frequencies get this supplement which stands for “fast”. With 250kHz sampling rate the USB-AD16f is perfect for fast signals, of course.

Even in terms of software the USB-AD16f exceeds all limitations. It can be installed under Windows, but it also runs with the operating systems Mac OS X, FreeBSD and Linux.
Besides that, the USB-AD16f is supported by the measuring software NextView 4.3 for professional data acquisition and processing.
Driver, ActiveX Controls and the “Live!” version of NextView 4.3 are included with the delivery of the USB-AD16f for free.
In NextView Live! 4.3 signals can be displayed and all functions of the hardware can be tested.

With the USB-AD16f BMC Messsysteme GmbH (bmcm) gets measurement technology going and a worthy competitor for the “little runabout” remains to be invented!
