SENSIO Obtains Key Japanese Patent for S2D Switch Technology

MONTREAL, QUEBEC and OTTAWA, ONTARIO — (Marketwired) — 05/01/13 — SENSIO Technologies Inc. (SENSIO) (TSX VENTURE: SIO) announced today that the Japanese Patent Office has issued patent 5230892 relating to SENSIO-s S2D Switch (“S2D Switch”) technology which enables users to switch the viewing mode of a 3D video feed from 3D to 2D. This Japanese patent is the third SENSIO patent to be granted worldwide in relation to this technology. SENSIO-s S2D Switch technology is also protected by several other issued and pending patents in Canada, China, Europe and India.

The patent rights associated with the S2D Switch technology are exclusively licensed to WiLAN Inc. (“WiLAN”) for the purpose of granting licenses to third-parties. In addition, as part of the patent collaboration between SENSIO and WiLAN announced on September 17, 2012, WiLAN assists SENSIO with the prosecution of patent applications associated with the S2D Switch technology in the certain patent jurisdictions around the world.
