Crossroads Files Patent Infringement Suit Against Oracle

AUSTIN, TX — (Marketwired) — 10/07/13 — Crossroads Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRDS), a global provider of data archive solutions, filed a complaint against Oracle Corporation in the federal district court in Austin, Texas, alleging infringement of U.S. Patents 6,425,035; 7,051,147; and 7,934,041. Crossroads seeks monetary damages and an injunction. Crossroads asserts that Oracle has incorporated Crossroads- patented technology into Oracle-s storage systems, including its Pillar Axiom 300 and 600 systems, Sun Storage 2540-M2 Array, Solaris system, and Sun ZFS storage appliances.

The asserted patents cover technology that is fundamental to secure and efficient access to network storage systems. The asserted patents are part of Crossroads- -972 Patent Family. Since 2001, Crossroads has licensed the -972 Patent Family to more than 40 companies and received in excess of $60 million in license and settlement revenue.

“The success of our licensing program shows that the industry recognizes the value of our -972 Patent Family,” noted Richard K. Coleman, Jr., Interim President and CEO at Crossroads Systems. “Crossroads invested millions of dollars in developing and protecting the technology covered by our patents and we are committed to pursuing those remaining companies, like Oracle, who continue to use our patented technology without a license.”
