Bryant & Stratton College-s Professional Skills Center Offers Course for Students Interested in “iJobs”

BUFFALO, NY — (Marketwire) — 07/20/11 — The (PSC) at Bryant & Stratton College announced today that it has launched a new course for students interested in careers developing applications for Apple devices. The iOS Development Course prepares students to create -apps- for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The PSC will begin offering the course in Albany, Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, New York, starting the week of August 15. The four-day, 36 hour intensive course features a “boot camp” style curriculum where students will learn the unique language, programming libraries and functions required to build applications that run on Apple devices.

is an Apple authorized training outlet through Apple-s iOS University Developer Program. To be accepted into the program, colleges must be accredited and meet application criteria.

“Explosive growth in the demand for -apps- has created a brand new career path, however, the technology has evolved much faster than the workforce,” said Tim McCardle, Director of the Professional Skills Center at Bryant & Stratton College. “Often traditional computer science and programming degree programs do not offer Apple specific instruction, so someone interested in an -iJob- creating apps for these devices either needs additional education or has to learn by trial and error. The iOS Development Course now offered by the Professional Skills Center at Bryant & Stratton College provides the specialized training needed to develop applications for Apple devices in an accelerated classroom environment with highly qualified instructors.”

The iOS Development Course is an intermediate-level course designed to teach students the language and extensive programming libraries, as well as guidelines and best practices, needed to develop iOS applications. Upon completion of the course, students will have learned skills including: how to program with Cocoa Touch and Objective-C language, deal with a resource limited platform, develop effective and efficient mobile applications and deploy applications through the Apple App Store. As a prerequisite to enroll in the course, students must have at least a basic knowledge of the object-oriented programming paradigm, model-view-controller pattern, C language syntax and an understanding of integrated development environments.
