Telecommunication Systems and Acacia Subsidiary Enter Into Patent Licensing Alliance

ANNAPOLIS, MD and NEWPORT BEACH, CA — (Marketwire) — 04/25/12 — TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, and Acacia Research Corporation (NASDAQ: ACTG), a leader in patent licensing, today announced that TCS and a subsidiary of Acacia have entered into a patent licensing alliance, whereby the Acacia subsidiary is now the exclusive licensor of TCS- inter-carrier messaging (ICM) patent portfolio.

TCS- ICM technology enables subscribers to send messages to subscribers in other carrier networks by simply entering the recipient-s phone number. This technology is currently used in TCS- wireless Internet gateway and message data center product offerings.
