Gentle Scanning Of Historical and Valuable Documents

Large format historical and valuable documents, for example, very old maps or newspapers, are often threadbare and brittle and could disintegrate while scanning them. Also, these types of documents often have torn and ragged edges. This hinders paper feeding into the scanner, because there are no smooth edges. To protect these cultural assets for future generations, they have to be digitalized in an especially gentle way. For this purpose, operators can use a transparent DIN A1 envelope. The document can be simply placed in the envelope and fed into the scanner.

One further possible application for the envelope is scanning of rounded or “uneven” originals. In this case, there are also no smooth edges so the envelope facilitates document feeding.

Even several small documents, for example photos, can be easily scanned with a wide format scanner. The photos are placed side by side into the envelope and are scanned as one large image. In post-processing, the image can be separated.

The DIN A1 envelopes can be purchased at any time via the Customer Service Portal from Image Access. The envelopes are available as a 10-pack for 150 Euros or as a 100-pack for 1100 Euros.
