5th Annual Business Leaders- Breakfast Benefitting the Boy Scouts of America – Los Angeles Area Council

LOS ANGELES, CA — (Marketwire) — 03/07/12 — “Wherever I go for the military, they always call me Lt. Dan,” says Gary Sinise of his “Forrest Gump” alter-ego. “They just can-t help it.” Well, Mr. Sinise may hear the call from several hundred business professionals as the keynote speaker for the 5th Annual Business Leaders- Breakfast benefitting the Boy Scouts of America – Los Angeles Area Council on March 15, 2012.

The Business Leaders- Breakfast is a networking event that brings together the Los Angeles professional community. Attendees mingle during an opening “coffee hour” which is followed by a complimentary breakfast with a program that highlights the benefits of Scouting for our youth and community, and a very special address from Mr. Sinise.

Oscar nominated for his role in “Forrest Gump” and star of the CBS show “CSI:NY,” Gary Sinise is a tireless supporter of our military and veterans. He is involved nationally with the “Wounded Warrior Project,” is the Co-Host of the annual Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation Dinner at the Reagan Library and tours with his “Lt. Dan Band” in support of the USO and Operation Iraqi Children. In 2008, Mr. Sinise was awarded the Presidential Citizen Medal by President George W. Bush.

The event will also feature FOX11 news anchor Carlos Amezcua as Master of Ceremonies. Mr. Amezcua is an Eagle Scout from Southern California who was awarded the Distinguished Eagle Scout award by the Los Angeles Area Council for achievements in his profession and commitment to the community.

Renowned tenor Dennis McNeil will sing the National Anthem to begin the event program. Mr. McNeil is a veteran of the Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York Opera Companies.

The Los Angeles Area Council (LAAC) has been offering Scouting programs since 1915. Currently, there are over 24,000 youth involved in LAAC programs with support from over 7,000 registered volunteers and 340 chartered organizations. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes.

In 2011, the Business Leaders- Breakfast raised over $70,000 in donations for Scouting in under-served areas of Los Angeles. This year-s event expects to raise even more. Sponsors include: MassMutual, Pacific Bank, international law firm SNR Denton, Community Bank, Margaret York, Illig Construction and last year-s honoree Col. John Fer.

The Business Leaders- Breakfast will be held on March 15, 2012 at the Los Angeles Marriott Downtown — 333 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90071. Coffee and networking kick off at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast and program beginning at 7:30 a.m. The event will conclude promptly at 9:00 a.m.
