HOUSTON, TX — (Marketwire) — 03/07/12 — Industry newcomer Spectre Media, LLC, announces its license and development of a video game adaptation of Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions- STARSHIP TROOPERS: INVASION, executive produced by Casper Van Dien (Johnny Rico from Starship Troopers, Starship Troopers: Marauder) and Ed Neumeier (writer Starship Troopers and Starship Troopers: Marauder); produced by Joseph Chou of Sola Digital; and directed by Shinji Aramaki (Halo Legends). The game adaptation makes its worldwide debut Summer 2012 on Apple® iOS devices including iPod Touch®, iPhone®, and iPad®, with later installments planned for Mac App Store, Android Market, Chrome App Store and other online cloud gaming networks including Steam. It will be the first Starship Troopers game ever produced for the iOS platform and will be available through the App Store.

Just like the film, the game takes place on a distant Federation outpost, Fort Casey, which comes under attack by bugs. As a space marine soldier, the player is part of an elite mobile infantry unit sent to defend Fort Casey from being invaded by the Arachnids. Equipped with power armor and an array of upgradeable deadly weaponry, the player must blast his way through an onslaught of bugs to protect his infantry unit and carry out his mission.
