K12 Enterprise Acquires Virginia-Based Software Firm

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND — (Marketwire) — 03/08/12 — Baltimore-based K12 Enterprise – Microsoft-s leading financial and HR management software for K-12 school systems – has acquired Sartox, LLC, a Virginia-based software firm specializing in business solutions for K-12 public schools.

Sartox currently serves more than 50 percent of the school systems in North Carolina, as well as customers in Virginia. The acquisition will give K12 Enterprise access to Sartox-s strong and loyal customer base, as well as the software company-s experienced personnel and resources, enabling faster development and expansion of products.

Sartox has been developing and supporting enterprise business solutions since 1978, including central administration systems, child nutrition and cafeteria management systems, and employee time and attendance software. The company – a Microsoft certified partner – will continue to support all of the same products offered prior to the acquisition.

“We were impressed with Sartox-s ability to provide high-performing business solutions and outstanding customer service to K-12 school systems,” says Andrew Fass, CEO of K12 Enterprise. “K12 Enterprise-s mission is to provide school systems with innovative business software that enables them to be as efficient and effective as possible. This acquisition allows K12 Enterprise to deliver modern, Microsoft technology to a broader market.”

K12 Enterprise and Sartox established a partnership in 2010 when Sartox became an official reseller of K12 Enterprise software. “This acquisition solidifies the relationship begun in 2010 and extends K12 Enterprise-s team with additional professionals who hold deep expertise in the K-12 environment,” says Terry Garber, Sartox-s President, who will now become General Manager of K12 Enterprise-s Virginia office.

K12 Enterprise-s headquarters will remain in Towson, Maryland, while Sartox-s Richmond location will become K12 Enterprise-s Virginia office, serving North Carolina and states in the southern United States. With the acquisition, K12 Enterprise increases staff size by an additional 11 employees.
