Collaboration Provides Free Content Marketplace for NY Educators

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwire) — 03/16/12 — The New York Partners for Technology Innovation (NYPTI) and Learning.com today announce the availability of newyork.learning.com, an initiative to help New York educators find and use free, for-purchase and user generated K-12 curriculum content that is aligned to Common Core and New York State academic standards. Access to this new service is available free to all New York educators.

newyork.learning.com represents an important collaboration between Learning.com, the largest online educational resources marketplace, and NYPTI, the non-profit organization that supports the New York State Teacher Centers. Educational resources currently distributed statewide, including Verizon-s Thinkfinity resource, SAS Curriculum Pathways, and Professor Garfield, as well as existing Learning.com-featured resources like USA Today, Smithsonian, NASA, Lego, Waterford Institute and 36 other content collections, will be available through the service. New York Institute of Technology, the contracting agency for Verizon Thinkifinity, Professor Garfield and many other valuable content resources, will assist in the integration of content collections with the new service.

New York educators can create free accounts for themselves by going to newyork.learning.com. Schools, districts and BOCES in the state of New York can work with NYPTI and Learning.com to integrate newyork.learning.com directly into their current portals or other district systems. Training will be provided by NYPTI through the New York State Teacher Centers throughout the spring and summer.

“Learning.com-s existing platform and growing collection of resources provide the perfect solution for New York educators,” said Joe Pesavento Chairman of the NYPTI Board of Directors. “newyork.learning.com will be a powerful tool to allow our educators to better utilize digital resources in the classroom and for districts to begin realizing an instructional ROI on their digital resources investment.”

“We are proud to partner with NYPTI and NYIT on newyork.learning.com,” said Bill Kelly, CEO and Founder of Learning.com. “We are committed to continually growing the resources available in the service and improving the functionality so that New York educators can take better advantage of the quality digital resources available to them.”

newyork.learning.com is being announced in conjunction with informational sessions at the WNET Celebration of Teaching and Learning March 16-17 in New York City. The service will be available beginning March 16.
