(NASDAQ: SCKT), an innovative provider of mobile productivity solutions, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent 8,139,049, titled “Cordless Scanner and Stylus,” that covers all cordless hand-held devices implementing both a scanner and a stylus within a common housing. The patent covers styli for both resistive and capacitive touchscreens, capacitive being the type used by most smartphones and tablets in the market today.

The combination scanner and stylus is useful to users who need to both scan barcodes and manually enter information into a PDA, tablet, or smartphone.
