Palo Alto, California January 27, 2009 Entertainment Distribution Company GmbH (EDC), one of the world’s largest production and distribution centers for CDs and DVDs, has selected the Accellion Secure File Transfer Solution to accellerate CD production and collaboration efforts. With a client list that spans major music production firms including Universal Musical Group and Warner Music to smaller independents, EDC relies on the Accellion solution for real-time, secure collaboration between its customers, vendors and its global manufacturing and distribution facilities. Each day EDC delivers up to 1.5 million entertainment products to over 8,000 customers in over eighty countries. To keep up with the increasing demand, CD production deadlines often need to be completed within two to three days from the point of agreement. In the past EDC relied on couriers to physically deliver CD Masters. After experiencing a steady increase in volume, it became obvious this slow and costly method for sharing information was no longer practical. To meet their demanding production schedule, EDC needed a faster, more cost effective means for sharing digital assets. Because confidentiality of creative material is critical, the solution had to be highly secure and offer tracking capabilities.
