Learning.com Founder and CEO, Bill Kelly, Transitions to Advisory Role

PORTLAND, OR — (Marketwire) — 04/25/12 — Learning.com, the premier provider of Web-delivered curriculum and assessments, today announces that William J. “Bill” Kelly has resigned as Chief Executive Officer to pursue outside entrepreneurial interests. Candace Petersen, Ph.D., President and Chief Operating Officer, has been named interim CEO while the Board of Directors completes a national search for a new Chief Executive. Petersen has been with the company since 2007. As a major shareholder Kelly remains committed to the success of the company. He will be involved as an advisor to the company and work with the Board in recruiting the new CEO.

“Over the past 12 years, we have built a great company that has a solid market position, loyal customers, a world-class management team, remarkable employees, and a reputation as the leader in integration of 21st century technology into how students learn and how educators teach,” Kelly said. “As hard as it is to think about leaving this great organization, I look forward to pursuing new entrepreneurial endeavors, which is where my true talents and passions lie. I have confidence and faith in our Board of Directors, our leadership team, and our passionate employees to guide Learning.com on to an exciting and successful future.”

Kelly co-founded Learning.com and has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 1999. “Bill is a true visionary who guided Learning.com to world-wide recognition as a leader in the education technology industry,” said Clement Erbmann, Learning.com Board Member and Managing Director at First Analysis. “He is a transformative leader who created innovative solutions for teachers and students so they are better prepared to meet the technological needs of the 21st century. On behalf of the Board, we thank Bill for his tireless dedication, commitment to improving education, and focus on the best interest of the company, our customers and the stakeholders. We look forward to Bill-s continued support and guidance and wish him all the best.”
