City Electrical Factors chooses Stibo Systems”platform

Reading, UK, 3rd December 2012: Stibo Systems today announces that global electrical wholesale network City Electrical Factors (CEF) has chosen Stibo Systems” STEP platform to manage the company”s product information, ahead of a full e-commerce rollout.

City Electrical Factors is the UK”s leading electrical wholesaler, with 400 outlets globally. The company, which serves both consumers and businesses, is looking to expand its online operations later this year by enabling customers to order directly from the website, while maintaining its strong in-store and catalogue offerings alongside the new e-commerce channel. By choosing Stibo Systems” STEP platform, the company is able to efficiently manage strategic information relevant to its expansive range of products, across each channel.

Working with Stibo Systems will enable City Electrical Factors to strategically manage product information across its catalogues, which remain part of the company”s heritage, as well as online and in-store. STEP”s flexibility and scalability ensures consistency and data quality to reduce time to market and speed up agility. Furthermore, customers will benefit from an improved online experience, with rich product information, marketing descriptions, images and recommendations.

Pauline Kirk, IT Manager, City Electrical Factors states: “ Multichannel is key for us, and having our product data mastered in one place, and shared across the Group, allows us to ensure that our data is always consistent. Initially we will be enriching over 20,000 CEF products, increasing to over 100,000 over the next two to three years. STEP plays a vital role in developing our ecommerce strategy, helping us to manage our product information to enable successful multichannel retailing. STEP provides us with consistent, trustworthy data across every channel, meaning that we can be flexible and responsive to the market.

“Selling directly to the consumer is now incredibly important for City Electrical Factors and we realise that by having a fully-transactional ecommerce website, we will give customers a much better experience in terms of better organised attributes and longer product descriptions – vital with something like electrical components,” added Kirk.

Ian Buttery, Business Consultant at Stibo Systems states: “Our goal in working with City Electrical Factors, is to ensure that product data is never siloed across various platforms. By introducing STEP, we can cleanse this data, providing a “single version of the truth” which will support the company in its multichannel operations. What is more, the scalability of STEP means that Stibo Systems can continue to support City Electrical Factors across further channels such as mobile, as well as maintaining multi-lingual and multi-versional data.”
