Parse and CrowdFlower Partner to Bring Crowdsourced Photo Moderation to Parse-Powered Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwire) — 12/18/12 — Parse (), the leading mobile and desktop application platform, today announced a partnership with CrowdFlower (), the world-s largest crowdsourced workforce, to bring crowdsourced photo moderation to Parse-powered applications with the CrowdFlower Cloud Module. Cloud Modules are the easiest way to integrate a Parse app with third-party services and libraries like the already released Twilio, Mailgun, and SendGrid Cloud Modules.

The CrowdFlower Cloud Module, the latest addition to the Parse ecosystem, gives Parse application developers access to RTFM or Real Time Foto Moderation. Many applications include photo sharing amongst friends, family, and the world. Moderating these images can take a lot of time and resources. By crowdsourcing this tedious task, developers that create applications that include photo-sharing, like the Parse-powered TOMS app, don-t have to create a complex workflow to manage moderation. Parse developers now have the power of millions of eyes moderating their content with just a few lines of code.

“Many Parse applications take in user generated content. It-s almost always photos. Building an application that takes in photos is tricky for obvious reasons so folks have had to build complex moderation workflows. This partnership is an obvious one for us because it takes away yet another pain point as we try to simplify application development even further. Building successful applications doesn-t end at launch time. We-re committed to partnering with excellent companies like CrowdFlower to facilitate all parts of the process.” – Ilya Sukhar, CEO, Parse

“We-ve learned from our customers that a trained crowd of humans is essential for fast, accurate photo moderation. Photo moderation for mobile apps was the exact use case we had in mind when we released our image moderation API earlier this year. There is so much user-generated content that needs to be reviewed or moderated by the app-s team, and it can be difficult to find a scalable, cost-effective way to do this. The partnership with Parse makes it easier for developers to leverage crowdsourced moderation as part of a suite of app development tools. We are really excited about making this powerful resource more accessible to the app developer community.” – Chris Van Pelt, CTO, CrowdFlower
