RM Foods Eating Up the Competition With Sage ERP X3

IRVINE, CA — (Marketwire) — 01/22/13 — announced today that RM Foods has continued its success by capitalizing on Sage ERP X3 and its expertise in process manufacturing. Starting with a quick implementation of its first phase, Sage ERP X3 has enabled RM Foods to run its business more profitably by increasing data accuracy with more visibility into product and production data. is the most powerful and flexible business management solution from Sage for midsized companies looking to grow a competitive business with limited IT resources.

RM Foods, a nearly 50-year-old food and beverage manufacturer and distributor based in Buena Park, California, has grown from a supplier of the restaurants El Torito and Acapulco to a much larger customer base that now includes companies such as Trader Joe-s, Costco, Sam-s Club and Whole Foods. With 300 employees operating from three separate locations, RM Foods maintains a bustling operation, which had grown to require an ERP system that was flexible and able to support a growing and complex business.

“Our old system made even routine tasks cumbersome, so it was easier to outsource them,” said Michael Siegmund, president of RM Foods. “We hired a consulting team to help us evaluate our options, and Sage ERP X3 came out the winner. Sage ERP X3 has a clean intuitive interface, a solid reputation in the process manufacturing industry and is backed by a strong and reputable company.”

“Our implementation plan was carefully designed,” said Siegmund. “We are rolling out components of the software in phases, and it-s working extremely well for us. Our accounting department was up and running on Sage ERP X3 in just three weeks.”

Consultants from Sage assisted with the implementation, resulting in a smooth transition of the first phase that was on schedule and under budget. Its rapid implementation and out-of-the-box functionality prompted a quick return on investment.

At any one time, as many as 20 products can be in production. This results in a tremendous amount of production data for which to account.

“We were limping along before,” said Siegmund. “Now we are able to leverage our production data to our advantage. We are using automated notifications, queries and both standard and custom reports to deliver real-time data to those who need it.”

In the next phase of implementation, RM Foods plans on taking advantage of comprehensive lot control in Sage ERP X3 and will incorporate the MRP components to facilitate sales forecasting.

“In the future, we also plan to roll out web interfaces so that our customers can log on to place orders and check status and stocking levels. It-s not possible for an organization to be competitive and profitable without access to real-time operational data — the data that Sage ERP X3 delivers to us every day,” concluded Siegmund.
