BINDER GmbH has been an alliance member of Blue Competence since September 2012. The German Engineering Federation (VDMA) is the sponsor of the initiative. The primary focus of the network is an improved quality of life and efficient operations.

Notable companies have joined since establishment of the international Blue Competence trademark. They are all rising to the challenge of economic, environmental and social issues. In the area of resource protection, the initiative focuses on the core area of process engineering. Byproducts of production are converted for energy use. With holistically designed systems, waste materials should be used for power and heat generation to reduce the high consumption of the limited resources.
The initiative is even working on sustainable solutions in the area of energy efficiency. Blue Competence sees great potential particularly in the chemical and pharmaceutical production process to reduce energy consumption through targeted process optimization and innovative systems.
As a third point, the network has made it their business to increase process and production safety in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, medical materials and health care products.
