SnapHop Asks: Are Boston-s “Top Places to Work” Doing All They Can to Attract New Talent?

WALTHAM, MA — (Marketwire) — 02/21/13 — , creator of the enterprise mobile recruiting platform, RecruitingHop, today released a review of the online recruiting presences of the companies in The Boston Globe-s “Top Places to Work.” SnapHop examined social media outreach and mobile readiness for the 125 companies listed in the 2012 report. But even these forward-thinking companies are turning a blind eye to mobile. As more people use mobile devices during their job searches, employers are missing out on top talent.”

More than 70 percent of job seekers use social media and mobile devices to search for job listings, so being mobile ready offers a major advantage to leading companies. Not having a mobile-friendly career page prevents companies from capturing candidates- interest in the moment. According to a recent Gallup poll, more than half of all small businesses have difficulty finding the right person; more than a quarter say it has hurt their company.

Of the workplaces analyzed in the SnapHop study:

Just over half (55 percent) listed social media identities on their websites

Fewer than a third had a mobile-friendly home page

Only 4 percent of the companies analyzed had a mobile career site

Many of the career websites also contain elements that are difficult for mobile users to navigate, including:

Pop-up windows

The prevalence of job seekers on mobile, contrasted with limited mobile readiness at top companies, shows that many organizations could benefit from optimizing their web presence with mobile users in mind.
