BOSTON, MA — (Marketwire) — 03/20/13 — announced today that its Xpress lighting fixture has been named a “Best in Class” product by Next Generation Luminaires in the fifth annual Solid-State Lighting Design Competition, which awards excellence in indoor commercial LED lighting products. Xpress, the Digital Lumens entry-level high bay LED-based fixture, was recognized for its quality and efficacy, along with its ability to provide customers with occupancy-driven energy savings.
Xpress was selected as one of 28 products to be recognized from an initial pool of 156 submissions, and was judged on a range of criteria including lighting quality, efficacy and value. The awards, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in collaboration with the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and the International Association of Lighting Designers, were founded in 2008 to promote excellence in the design of energy efficient LED luminaires.

The fifth annual Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Solid-State Lighting Design Competition has recognized 28 commercial LED indoor lighting products for excellence; announced on March 20, 2013 at the LEDucation 7 lighting conference in New York.
The idea behind NGL is to make it easier for lighting designers and specifiers to find LED lighting products that are worthy of specification. This means recognized products have to measure up on many fronts. NGL entries are evaluated by a panel drawn from the architectural lighting community and are judged on lighting quality (including color, illuminance, light distribution, and glare), appearance, serviceability, efficacy, value, and dimming.
