LANCOM with “High-speed backbone for less” promotion

10 – Outdoor wireless LAN solutions from German vendor LANCOM Systems are widely used as a costeffective “last mile” alternative for taking broadband Internet to rural areas. With its “Highspeed backbone for less” promotion LANCOM now offers its latest in 802.11n outdoor WLAN for the price of conventional 54 Mbps solutions.
For just EUR 2,999 excluding VAT, customers receive a complete “WLAN bridge kit”: 2 x 802.11n outdoor access points LANCOM OAP-310agn Wireless, 2 x polarisation diversity antennas OD-9a, and 2 x surge arrestors SA-LAN. The bundle can be used to install outdoor pointtopoint links spanning distances of up to 20 kilometres; maximum net data rates reach 100 Mbps. The offer applies until October 31, 2010 in all regions (except for Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
“Since the introduction of our OAP-310agn we have seen excellent acceptance by the market,” says Jan Buis, Director of International Sales at LANCOM. “However, particularly smaller customers and ISPs still frequently opt for conventional 54-Mbps outdoor solutions for the simple reason of saving money. With our promotion, we want to give them an incentive to make the next step and learn how 802.11n can dramatically boost the performance of their wireless links.”
LANCOM-s OAP-310agn has been used in a series of visionary projects throughout Europe, including the unique “WiFi Formentera” network on the Balearic island of Formentera, or in the German holiday region Eifel, where LANCOM equipment provides wireless Internet access to 40,000 households and businesses without landline DSL coverage.
