Panasonic showcases innovation at IFA 2010

Under the theme “3D your world”, Panasonic has showcased its end-to-end 3D leadership at IFA 2010 in Berlin, unveiling new partnerships to help deliver innovative 3D entertainment to consumers, and demonstrating further expansions to its 3D product suite

To allow consumers to have access to an exciting range of 3D entertainment at their fingertips, from 3D Hollywood movies, to live 3D sport to 3D gaming, Panasonic has unveiled a range of content partnerships at IFA:

With Acetrax, Panasonic has demonstrated an innovative new Video on Demand (VoD) download service that will allow 3D content to be bought directly through its Viera 3D TVs by 2011

In partnership with Ubisoft, new 3D games and television applications will be available via Panasonic’s IPTV platform, starting with Shaun White Skateboarding which has been showcased as a world premiere at IFA and will be released in Europe later in 2010

In conjunction with Eutelsat Communications and Eurosport, the tennis US Open 2010 has been available to view in 3D on Panasonic’s state-of-the-art Viera 3D TVs at IFA, showcasing the potential of sport as a driver for the consumer 3D market

Panasonic has also demonstrated at IFA its unique ability to offer a fully integrated end-to-end product suite for the 3D world, enabling consumers to record, store and watch content in Full HD 3D. The new products range from the HDC-SDT750, the world’s first AVCHD 3D consumer camcorder, available from October in Europe; an extended 3D Viera range with two new 42” and 46” models in the VT20 series and a new 42” GT20 3D TV; and new 3D Home AV products including its DMP-BDT100 Full HD 3D Blu-ray player

Panasonic also announced it is establishing a European 3D Innovation Centre in Wiesbaden, Germany, to accelerate the development of its 3D business around the world

At its press conference at IFA, Laurent Abadie, Chairman and CEO of Panasonic Europe, discussed how the Panasonic aims achieve its long-term global objective of becoming the “No. 1 Green Innovation Company” by 2018 through its ‘eco ideas’ for Lifestyles and ‘eco ideas’ for Business-styles pledges

Panasonic has also presented a selection of products, technologies and initiatives during the event that highlight the company’s unique commitment to ecology and sustainability. It has showcased products that will focus on creating energy (including solar panels, fuel cells, and heat pumps) storing energy (with residential storage batteries), saving energy (through energy efficient products and LED lighting) and managing energy, with the its Home Energy Management System.
