ZTE Uses Sigma Designs- Next Generation Home Networking G.hn Chipset

MILPITAS, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/29/13 — Sigma Designs® (NASDAQ: SIGM), a leading provider of system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for home entertainment, connectivity and converging multimedia delivery, today announced advanced networking supplier ZTE, has chosen Sigma Designs- new G.hn CG5200 family of chipsets for its H505 series of powerline network adapters.

The CG5200 enables a fully self-installable home entertainment network for the distribution of Triple Play and IPTV over existing in-home powerline, coax and phone line wires. Complying with the latest ITU G.hn specifications Sigma-s G.hn CG5200 chipsets exhibit highest levels of coverage and throughput over powerline even through surge protected power strips and multiples phase environments.

Consumers today face a mix of non-interoperable home networking technologies across the various wired media in the home. G.hn offers a single open international standard for establishing high bandwidth communications across all existing wires. With Sigma Designs- CG5200, every power outlet, coaxial outlet and phone jack in the home becomes a network connectivity point on the same network, providing consumers with convenience and flexibility. This enables traffic to be delivered seamlessly over any wired medium in the home.

The ZTE H505 adapters feature a built-in power outlet design that replaces the wall outlets that are normally blocked when the adapter is plugged in. This allows consumers extra flexibility and convenience in deploying a reliable and high performance home network for streaming high-definition videos, music and other rich digital multimedia content.

“As a leader in providing global communications solutions, ZTE is excited to announce Sigma Designs as our preferred technical partner of home networking solutions. We feel that our H505 products benefit from Sigma-s robust hardware. We feel that the CG5200 will give consumers a better user experience,” says Yue Zhu, ZTE Director of home networking.

“We are extremely delighted to have ZTE use our second generation G.hn chipset for their newest and most advanced powerline adaptor. The CG5200 was built with service providers- and consumers- real-world challenges in mind,” said Gabi Hilevitz, Sigma Designs- vice president and general manager Home Connectivity business unit. “ZTE is an experienced networking equipment manufacturer with a strong Chinese and international footprint, and their selection of our G.hn CG5200 family of chipset for their next generation products is an expression of confidence in Sigma Designs- technological leadership in this area.”
