Procera Networks Receives Multi-million Dollar Order From North American MSO to Deliver Network Intelligence

FREMONT, CA — (Marketwired) — 05/02/13 — , Inc. (NASDAQ: PKT), the global network intelligence company, today announced that it has received a multi-million dollar follow-on order from a Top Ten North American MSO. This order includes multiple PL8000 series systems to expand the existing deployment for network intelligence purposes. The operator is deploying these systems initially for a Big Data project, using Procera as the key provider of contextual network intelligence to deliver higher quality data input to its big data systems for improved results.

“Big Data projects are increasingly driving investments inside of network operators,” said Paul Gracie, senior vice president Global Sales and Services at Procera. “This is one of the first deployments where our solution is being specifically purchased as part of a larger Big Data project. The operator feedback is that 70 to 80 percent of the value of the data is being provided by Procera-s PacketLogic products.”

Big Data can be used to deliver actionable information on user behavior to Telecom companies and MSOs for improved network performance, planning, CAPEX, management, and to offer new differentiated services based on existing consumer behavior. According to TechNavio-s analysts, the Global Big Data market in the Telecom sector is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 55 percent over the period 2011-2015, and has also been witnessing the growth of user-friendly predictive modeling.

Procera-s Intelligent Policy Enforcement (IPE) solutions deliver highly granular and unique levels of visibility into network traffic, providing superior data to the Big Data systems in this deployment, thereby enabling better results. The data includes subscriber information, applications, service plans, traffic volume, device information, as well as other application-specific information that IPE systems can provide. This high volume data is sent to Big Data systems that display the information as part of the overall presentation layer for the network.

“Procera-s ability to deliver unique data is opening up new opportunities as network operators invest in Big Data projects,” said Alexander Havang, chief technology officer for Procera. “The granularity, accuracy, and context for data that our IPE technology can provide are superior to systems that provide sampled or simple traffic volume data. All data is not equal — and the more context that can be provided with data, the more value that it has for network operators.”
