“Apps are also increasingly becoming embedded in real-world objects — with companies such as Johnson Controls wiring commercial buildings, or Samsung launching Android-controlled fridges,” Willmott said. “This shift begins to blur the distinction between online and offline.”

“At Accedo, we believe that the pairing of mobile and tablet devices, the second screen, to the TV will become an important part of the user experience,” Adams said. “There are a number of attractive use cases, which we believe will be readily adopted by consumers, such as using the second screen as a better way to browse and search, to control the first screen, and to view enhanced information, such as details about a specific program.”

“While the desire to enhance any mood, moment or situation with music has remained steadfast, connected devices have significantly changed the way music is consumed,” White said. “Pandora has now surpassed 200 million registered users and more than 140 million have accessed Pandora on a smartphone. Our listeners- extraordinary embrace of personalized radio on their smartphones has enabled Pandora to reach massive scale in mobile and over 1 in 3 smartphone users in the U.S. have listened to Pandora in the past month.”
