Devicescape Now Serving 1.5 Billion Mobile Wi-Fi Connections Monthly

SAN BRUNO, CA — (Marketwired) — 05/16/13 — Devicescape today announced that the number of device connections to amenity Wi-Fi hotspots via its (CVN) has grown by 50 percent in the preceding 12 months. The company now manages 1.5 billion monthly consumer Wi-Fi connections via client applications provided by mobile operators and device manufacturers. Operator-verified data has revealed that the quality of subscriber data experience is greatly enhanced and cellular data consumption can be halved if required.

In the last 12 months, Devicescape has concluded and announced agreements with eight significant cellular operators in the North American and European markets. Additionally, direct agreements have been concluded with both Intel and Microsoft (licensed by Verizon), which will dramatically increase the number of devices with native support for CVN connection and/or identification. That momentum is set to continue with further agreements either recently completed or in final-stage contract negotiations.

“The fundamental logic of Devicescape-s Curated Virtual Network has been established for mobile operators, device manufacturers, hotspot owners and consumers,” said the company-s CEO, Dave Fraser. “And the logic applies whether the motivation is to ease cellular network congestion, maintain viable margins or provide best-in-class quality of experience. Seamless access to an actively and intelligently-curated network of amenity Wi-Fi hotspots puts the consumer in touch with capacity when it-s most needed.”

Devicescape now actively monitors close to 200 million amenity Wi-Fi hotspots around the world. The CVN is made up of a subset of those hotspots that are both available and meet stringent capacity, reliability and security requirements to create a carrier-class solution. A Devicescape application automates user connection to the CVN according to operator or user preferences for a seamless, always-best-connected experience. The CVN now numbers more than 12 million individual hotspots and is expected to reach 100 million by the end of 2017.

Devicescape will be exhibiting at CTIA 2013 in Las Vegas May 21-23 at Booth 2729A in the Innovation Showcase area of the exhibit floor. For CTIA attendees, Devicescape is providing “,” a free app available in the Google Play store that will provide users an automatic connection to public Wi-Fi throughout Las Vegas. Devicescape moves beyond Wi-Fi Offload and uniquely combines intelligent network selection with the world-s largest curated virtual network of high-quality Wi-Fi hotspots. This enables mobile operators to magnify their capacity-reach and elevate the “always best connected” experience. Headquartered in San Bruno, California, Devicescape is privately held by leading venture capital companies including Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, August Capital, Jafco Ventures, and Enterprise Partners.
