Men More Likely to Waste Travel Rewards Points, According to New Data From Manilla.com

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 05/22/13 — In a recent survey of users, account management service Manilla.com found that while men are more likely than women to travel frequently and carry credit cards that offer travel rewards points, they-re also the biggest offenders when it comes to letting travel rewards points and miles expire. The survey also found that almost 50 percent of Manilla users report interest in expanding relationships with a brand after adding it to the service. Manilla () is the leading, free and secure service that allows consumers to manage their bills and other personal accounts on desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

In the April survey, 70 percent of male respondents said they travel very often (once a week or more), versus 29 percent of women. What-s more, of the 64 percent of male respondents that said they have at least one credit card earning travel points, 65 percent noted they have wasted travel points or miles because they didn-t realize they were about to expire. The survey also found that men have more travel accounts to manage, with 33 percent having three to five accounts.

When it comes to the habits of frequent travelers compared to leisure travelers, the Manilla.com survey showed that all travelers have a strong propensity to let travel points or miles expire. Respondents who identified that they travel somewhat often, or every few weeks, were the group most likely to waste travel rewards points (67 percent). Further, 89 percent of all survey respondents noted a preference to manage their travel accounts in one place, emphasizing the need for a solution like Manilla.

“It-s not uncommon for people to have travel rewards points that go unused or have no idea how many award miles they have available for booking, which is where Manilla comes in,” said Jim Schinella, CEO of Manilla. “We not only provide a resource for managing all of your travel accounts, including airline, hotel and rental car rewards programs, but we also allow users to set custom reminders so that they-ll never let travel points or miles expire again.”
