Retroficiency and Connecticut Light & Power Pilot Building Efficiency Intelligence Platform

BOSTON, MA — (Marketwired) — 06/18/13 — Retroficiency, provider of the Building Efficiency Intelligence platform, today announced it is currently conducting a pilot with Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P). Retroficiency is performing remote, no-touch building assessments to identify high quality candidates for the Energize Connecticut retro-commissioning program administered by CL&P and generate customized insights that help gain customer commitment to develop projects.

“We are excited to determine how interval analytics-based virtual assessments can play a key role in our program sales and marketing efforts,” said Dave McIntosh, strategic energy management team lead, CL&P. “The results to date have been very encouraging and we are eager to see how this new technology will benefit our customers moving forward.”

Retroficiency-s Virtual Energy Assessment (VEA) — a Building Efficiency Intelligence platform application — is rapidly qualifying high potential candidates for CL&P-s retro-commissioning program, without ever going on-site. Using interval consumption data and a property address for each building provided by CL&P, VEA generates a unique energy model on the fly that details how each building currently consumes energy and how it could perform with energy-efficient operations and systems.

VEA automatically makes both operational and retrofit recommendations. Specific retro-commissioning-related saving opportunities that VEA is able to detect include sub-optimal building system start and stop times, HVAC controls deficiencies, and higher-than-expected consumption during unoccupied hours. VEA-s recommendations and savings estimates are delivered to customers and a CL&P-approved retro-commissioning vendor to drive increased understanding of energy savings opportunities and gain commitment to develop projects.

“We are demonstrating that our platform can help improve CL&P-s retro-commissioning program today and hope to do so for additional CL&P energy efficiency initiatives in the future,” said Bennett Fisher, co-founder and CEO, Retroficiency. “Because Retroficiency can rapidly analyze both consumption and asset data, we are uniquely applicable to all types of buildings and efficiency opportunities across a utility-s portfolio.”

Retroficiency enables utilities and energy service providers to drive energy efficiency savings at scale. Its Building Efficiency Intelligence platform develops deep building insights that enable fast, cost-effective, and accurate building targeting, customer engagement, energy auditing, and dynamic tracking for new opportunities. Retroficiency is trusted by some of the largest utilities and energy service providers in the world. For more information, please visit .
