USI-s Ayla-enabled modules are pre-qualified building blocks that integrate hardware with the networking and security technology necessary to transform thermostats, appliances, lighting and other everyday products into interactive devices. USI-s first Ayla-enabled modules connect through Wi-Fi, making it easy for finished appliances to link to smartphones, computers and household access points.
To create an Internet-enabled device, manufacturers will simply integrate USI-s Ayla-enabled modules into their products, often by connecting the modules to an existing microcontroller or microprocessor. Manufacturers do not have to write or verify a single line of networking code. Appliances containing USI-s modules will link directly to the Ayla Platform, the company-s cloud-based connectivity service, after consumers first turn them on and begin to use them.
Through the Ayla Platform, manufacturers can manage their products, provide updates and communicate directly with their customers. Developed by experts in embedded systems and networking from Amazon, Cisco and other companies, Ayla-s underlying cloud technology optimizes available resources to serve a maximum number of clients, permitting the company to offer manufacturers Internet connectivity for the life of their products for an economical, one-time fee. Ayla-s unique technology and business model effectively turn Internet connectivity into a component, lowering costs for both manufacturers and consumers.

The companies have worked closely to qualify the first products from the partnership — the WM-N-BM-09A and WM-N-BM-14A modules — for production. The modules support 802.11b/g/n and connect directly to the Ayla Platform. Designed in a space-saving 11mm x 12mm package, the WM-N-BM-09A is the industry-s most compact production-ready onramp to the Internet of Things, while the WM-N-BM-14A-s onboard integrated antenna simplifies design and reduces cost for designs that do not require an external antenna. The devices- network settings and power consumption have also been optimized for use in connected products.
Additionally, certain USI modules will be pre-certified to meet FCC standards, further reducing the cost, complexity and time of designing a connected product.
