Litera Innovations Receive Two New Patents

MCLEANSVILLE, NC — (Marketwired) — 08/01/13 — Litera® Technologies has been awarded two new patents as it continues to deliver innovations in the areas of content risk management and productivity solutions. The first new patent was awarded for Litera technology that provides auto-detection and presentation of pre-set configurations for multiple monitor layout displays. The second is for the Litera-developed method of encrypting and transferring data between a sender and a receiver using a network.

The use of increases productivity for today-s office worker. The average worker now sorts through dozens of open windows at a time. Adding more digital workspace decreases frustration and increases efficiency. However, dragging, dropping and resizing windows across screens can be cumbersome and time consuming. United States Patent 8,471,781 protects technology that auto-detects a multi-monitor set up and provides a quick way to utilize many different layouts at the click of a button.

“Our new multiple monitor display patent it particularly valuable for customers that use Litera Change-Pro® software for document comparison processes,” said Karen Massand, president, Litera. “Users are able to click through a variety of layouts right from the Change-Pro ribbon without the need for manual configuration. It-s one of many patented Litera innovations that has delivered direct customer value and efficiencies.”

With the Litera encryption technology protected by United States Patent 8,478,995 and leveraged by Litera Secure File Transfer, key exchanges are handled entirely over a network. Unlike traditional email encryption methods, there is no need to exchange public keys or store private keys on a local computer, which puts all emails in jeopardy if compromised.

Using Litera Secure File Transfer, a standard internet email is created with a standard html form attached, containing the encrypted message data, encrypted session key, and SHA1 hash value of the message and the signature. This is sent to the recipient over normal email (i.e. SMTP) and the decrypted content is only made available over a 256-bit SSL secure link. Most credit card transactions only use 128-bit encryption. All of this is done via a network and client software on the sender and recipient-s machine is not required or necessary.

Engineered to improve enterprise-wide security, maintain confidentiality and support compliance initiatives, Litera Secure File Transfer allows businesses to securely send encrypted emails and attachments, transfer large files and enable advanced electronic signatures.
