E-learning, mobile couponing & local based marketing

Balingen, March 1st 2011 – Bizerba focuses collaboration with worldwide partners. The
POS architecture of the past few years is consistently integrated into the world of scales in
the process. At the EuroShop 2011, Bizerba Interactive presents the results of three
different cooperations: together with the educational publishing house EINS, a new e-
learning system has been developed for the PC scales. The collaboration with the Acardo
AG led to a new type of mobile couponing. And then an iPhone App developed with the
internet platform mynetfair will enable a new advertising opportunity for local service
providers.
 
 
Bizerba Interactive starts a training initiative for food retail
 
Markets that are constantly growing and becoming increasingly confusing as well as many
food scandals have created a new type of consumer who calls for a new level of service
and poses critical questions at the point of sale concerning the origin and processing of
his food. So that retailers can keep up with this development and can remain
competitive, Bizerba Interactive has developed an e-learning system for food counter
employees together with the educational publishing house EINS.
 
The online training sessions guide staff through jungle of origins and qualify them to
handle fresh food hygienically and to reply to customer questions in a competent way. In
the basic version, staff can carry out the training module directly on the PC scales. The
topics saved by the educational publishing house EINS include safe hygiene and ideal
storage in accordance with HACCP guidelines but also information about animal diseases
such as BSE.
 
 
From the start of training up to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce examination:
Bizerba Interactive assists students with e-learning
 
With a professional version of the e-learning programme, Bizerba Interactive assists
students in their training courses to become salespersons – on the internet, on the scales
or on the smartphone. At the end of the courses, a mock exam will be available on the
webpage Prüfcheck.de, in which the students will be asked appropriate questions about
their training courses. In this way, they can optimally prepare themselves for the real
Chamber of Industry and Commerce or Chamber of Crafts examination. The system can
be used in the future by both large retail chains and small food retailers. It has been
devised and tested in collaboration with leading master butchers and the certified cheese
sommelier Ute Sturm, one of around hundred professionally certified cheese experts in
Germany.
 
 
Cooperation with Acardo creates new types of mobile couponing
 
At the EuroShop 2011, Bizerba Interactive will present a cooperation with the Acardo
AG which opens up a new form of mobile couponing. Acardo names Open Wallet a
newly developed, virtual meeting place for digital coupons. Customers collect coupons
on their mobile phone by, for example, scanning barcodes from posters or newspapers.
They can then manage the discount vouchers in their PC or mobile phone and use them
for their next purchase.
The chief attraction: on the “K-class flex“ Bizerba PC scales/till, the customer registers by
holding his mobile phone on the reading device. The till downloads the discount
vouchers from the Open Wallet Server and automatically calculates the appropriate price.
There are also benefits for the advertisers. Because Acardo, as the coupon clearing
agency, looks after the majority of the German food retail industry. Advertisers receive
direct feedback as to how many products acquired with coupons were actually sold. The
electronic clearing developed by Acardo has established itself as standard in Germany
and is thus part of the Bizerba Partner World solutions.
