Impending End of Life for Microsoft Windows XP Drives BDNA-s Microsoft Master Series Webinars on Desktop Best Practices

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — (Marketwired) — 08/15/13 — BDNA, the leading Data as a Service (DaaS) company, today announced the Microsoft Master Series, a set of expert webinars designed to educate and inform IT professionals on how to optimize their desktop environments for increased productivity and business results. Subject matter experts will offer tips and techniques while discussing real-life examples of enterprises increasing the efficiency of their desktop environments through greater data visibility. The first set of webinars will begin on August 22, 2013.

With the end of life date of Windows XP set for April 8, 2014, the Master Series webinars will first focus on Windows migration best practices and guide enterprises that have yet to migrate from Windows XP. Failing to migrate from Windows XP leads to increased IT challenges, financial burdens and business disruptions. According to an IDC white paper, the cost to operate a PC running Windows XP is $870 versus just $168 for a PC using Windows 7.[1] The BDNA DaaS platform has helped enterprises save more than 90% of time on this critical first step and reduce the overall cost of Windows 7 migrations by more than 70%.[2]

“BDNA-s Microsoft Master Series is an ideal set of webinars designed to provide insights and guidance for upcoming migration projects,” said Johan Arwidmark, Chief Technical Architect at Knowledge Factory. “This series of webinars will provide real world solutions to completing Windows 7 migration projects before the April 2014 deadline.”

A critical first step all enterprises must take when undertaking a Windows 7 migration project is identifying whether or not their current software is compatible with Windows 7. This is often a time consuming and error prone process. BDNA-s DaaS platform helps automate this complex process by rationalizing all software titles within the enterprise and providing compatibility information. This includes information on the software-s compatibility, upgrade path and supporting information — such as the software-s end-of-life, licensability etc.

“This series is aimed at providing insights to the Microsoft community not only on Windows 7 migrations, but also how to extract more value from SCCM deployments,” said Julien Moreau, Director of Product Management at BDNA. “By bringing in Microsoft experts, BDNA will further assist enterprises, in various stages of their migration efforts, to successfully migrate to Windows 7 or 8 well before the April 2014 deadline in a faster and more cost effective manner.”

The next BDNA Microsoft MVP Master Series webinar is scheduled for Thursday, August 22 from 2:00-4:00pm ET. Wally Mead, one of the foremost Microsoft Community Leads, will discuss managing SCCM while migrating to Windows 8. To register for this webinar, please click .
